Eva has over 25 years of clinical experience across both public and private sectors, including outpatient mental health, military, dialysis, and hospital settings.

She has been in private practice since 2019. Prior to that, she spent 12 years working with active-duty service members, veterans, and their families, bringing extensive expertise to her work. Her professional background includes Walter Reed Military National Medical Center and the National Intrepid Center of Excellence in Bethesda, MD, the Pentagon’s Office of Family Policy in Arlington, VA, Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport, MS, and Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS.

Eva earned both her Bachelor and Master of Social Work from The Ohio State University and is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Brain Injury Association of Ohio.

Shinka Counseling is named after my last name, Shinka, which also means “evolution” in Japanese. The name reflects my passion for walking alongside clients as they grow, evolve, and transform into stronger, healthier versions of themselves. My goal is to help you find your true value through evolution by building rapport and trust and accompanying you on your journey of healing, wellness, and meaningful change.
